They didn’t forget. It was enough that a Pole came to Leicester

On Monday (19.08) the last match of the first round of the Premier League was played. Leicester City hosted Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium. The match ended 1:1. The visitors took the lead in the 28th minute thanks to a goal by Pedro Porro. The equaliser came from Jamie Vardy in the 57th minute.

Marcin Wasilewski appeared at the King Power Stadium for the match. The 44-year-old retired from football in 2020 and is now a Viaplay expert, working mainly on Premier League matches. For this reason, he watched Leicester’s clash with Tottenham up close on Monday.

In the years 2013-2017 “Wasyl” was a Leicester player and took part in one of the most sensational football stories of the 21st century. In the 2015/2016 season “Foxes” shocked the whole world and won the English championship. Two years earlier the club played at the Championship level.

Although Wasilewski only played in four of Leicester’s Premier League matches in the championship campaign, he was an important part of the defence in previous seasons. The “Foxes” community still like the Polish defender. The 44-year-old was warmly welcomed at the King Power Stadium on Monday.

Viaplay posted a short video on its social media showing a friendly conversation between Wasilewski and two members of Leicester’s coaching staff. The former colleagues embraced fondly and reminisced about the old days with wide smiles. The video is posted below.

The “Foxes” will play their next match on Saturday, August 24th. They will then face Fulham away. There is no doubt that Wasilewski will be keeping his fingers crossed for his former team.
