Inhabitants of Puerto Ordaz denounce that a criminal gang has taken Las Américas avenue.
The thugs lie in wait for their victims from Plaza La Navidad to the Chilemex vial, especially taking advantage of the mounted area. There they rob, subjugate and threaten those who pass by, “following 6:00 pm walking around is a complete danger,” the citizens said.
They also pointed out that three subjects have recently been seen: two adults, approximately 30 and 19 years old, in the company of a minor, no older than 13 years; who supposedly use bladed weapons.
By the way, officials from the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) told the complainants that “they are working on the case” and that they plan to complete maintenance on their transport units to “get into the neighborhoods and locate them.”
“The police told me that these thugs are hiding in the mountains, but they did not say whether they will do anything to capture them, they did not tell me anything regarding that,” said a citizen who filed a complaint with the authorities.
They stabbed a young man to rob him
Around 8:00 pm this Monday, a 23-year-old man was stabbed in the back when some subjects tried to rob him near Plaza La Navidad.
The victim declared that three subjects came out of the brush and broke into him to take his things, but he resisted. “A 12-year-old boy was with them, I didn’t receive attacks from him, what he told me was to give him the things.”
The men tried to choke him, punched him in the face, and also dragged him down the sidewalk.
Neighbors in the area stated that there have been cases of sexual abuse perpetrated on said avenue and that the lack of lighting and the height of the undergrowth make it easier for criminals to carry out their misdeeds.
“No one did anything”
Anggelo Torrella, victim of the robbery on Las Américas avenue, expressed that he was attacked on public roads, “the drivers saw everything, they saw that I was being beaten and subdued. Nobody did anything, everyone continued on their way.
Torrella, who is a university student, indicated that he tried to run away and cross the street “but I mightn’t, because no one stopped,” he lamented.
Finally, two residents of a closed circuit located on said avenue called the police, however the attackers fled.
PNB officials went to the area, as did a commission of paramedics from the Bolívar Emergency Room (Saem Bolívar), who transferred the injured citizen to the emergency area of the Uyapar hospital.
The victim presented abrasions on the arms, elbows, hands and face. And he was sutured in the area of the back where he received the stab wound.
