Led by the regional director of the Agricultural Development Institute (Indap), Fernanda Azócar and the regional presidential delegate(s) of Ñuble, Rocío Hizmeri, emergency aid bonds for productive rehabilitation were delivered to farmers in the commune of San Ignacio, in the Ñuble Region, which were affected by the rains and floods of August 2023. This delivery corresponds to one of the 53 measures implemented in the reconstruction plan that was developed following the emergencies of June and August.
“With this contribution, President Boric’s commitment is being fulfilled, providing the necessary help to get back on our feet from the first moment of the emergency,” highlighted the director of Indap Ñuble, Fernanda Azócar, who added that with this delivery, in the region There are more than 2 thousand families that received productive rehabilitation funds, ranging between 1 and 5 million pesos, to recover irrigation systems and productive infrastructure such as warehouses, greenhouses, chicken coops or fences.
“As a Government, we are working in coordination to complete the reactivation of agriculture, where in addition to the productive rehabilitation bonuses, we have prioritized the delivery of resources to those affected through emergency competitions for supplementary meadows, aimed at recovering animal nutrition; incentives of the program for the Sustainability of Agricultural Soils and in coordination with the National Irrigation Commission, the rehabilitation of irrigation canals that were affected by the outflow of the rivers,” emphasized the director of the service.
The objective of these resources is to be able to reactivate the productive activity of farmers and also to value the role of the State as an agent that is present in emergency situations that affect the various territories, as highlighted by the regional presidential delegate ( s) Rocío Hizmeri. “There were three different emergencies, in which many people were doubly affected,” the delegate recalled.
In this second stage, in San Ignacio 221 million pesos were delivered to 125 farmers accredited by Indap, a commune that suffered damage due to the increase in the channel of the Diguillín River and also the network of canals and estuaries that run through the different sectors of the commune, which generated losses in cereal crops, animal feed and significant damage to meadows, which were intended for sheep and cattle, winter vegetables and forage.
“This support comes as a result of the unusual rains that occurred last winter, not only in our commune, but in a large part of the country,” commented the mayor(s) of San Ignacio, Luis Miguel Quezada. “There was an impact on agriculture and other productive sectors, and today we are happy because the Government has done an important job taking care of an urgent and compelling need for our farmers and without a doubt it comes to support the work they tirelessly carry out every day.” , he highlighted.
The delivery made in San Ignacio is being replicated throughout the region, via direct transfer or by cash payment at Banco Estado branches to total $1,932 million pesos, among 1,014 affected farmers in Ñuble, where the most affected communes were Ñiquén, Saint Charles and Saint Ignatius. Between the productive rehabilitation bonuses and the early aid provided to those affected in the Ñuble Region, the Government has allocated a total of $4,253 million.
The productive rehabilitation bonds may be used for different investments depending on the productive and commercial situation of each user, focusing mainly on the acquisition of inputs (seeds, plants, forage, fertilizers), infrastructure (greenhouses, fences, warehouses, warehouses), equipment (motor cultivators, tractors, chainsaws, brush cutters) and irrigation (ponds, tillers, photovoltaic systems, water accumulators).
These productive rehabilitation supports are added to the early aid received by those affected in compliance with the four lines of work committed by the Government. These correspond to productive rehabilitation; second, arrive on time for the irrigation season through the National Irrigation Commission; A third line was to arrive with timely animal feed; and finally, forgiveness of Indap credits.
