They create a special group in Nuevo León after femicides and disappearances

The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García Sepúlveda, reported this Monday on the creation of a new group specialized in the search for missing women, in the context of a wave of disappearances of young people and adolescents, which has triggered a series of protests in the entity. “We are going to apply the full weight of the law, without fear, to send a strong message, to say that if they mess with a woman they mess with all of Nuevo León,” he said at a press conference.

The governor explained that the new group specialized in the search for missing women will be made up of 200 security elements trained to search for missing people. Samuel García explained that all the new security measures will be taken as of today, mentioning that this new group will seek to reduce the response time when starting a search. This Sunday, between banners with messages of ‘Justice’, ‘We are missing many’ and ‘New León insecure tiktokero’, the protesters demanded new prevention mechanisms from the state government and that the cases of missing persons in the entity be resolved. Members of feminist groups, as well as relatives and friends of the victims, marched towards the Attorney General’s Office to present their proposals with a large banner in front where the faces of the people who have disappeared were displayed. Later, they headed towards the State Government Palace to place a mural of the faces of victims of forced disappearance and messages to demand justice for the families. At the scene, they made a roll call of the missing persons and shouted their names. ‘Where are they? Where are they? Where are our children?’ they questioned. The most recent case of disappearance is that of the young Debanhi Escobar, 18 years old, who was seen for the last time on the Laredo highway following attending a party in the company of her friends. In social networks, the young woman’s relatives share the image of Debanhi Escobar on the road, and affirm that the image is real, so they ask the public for support in order to locate her. “Her friends say that they called a ‘trusted contact’ to pick her up from the place (said ‘contact’ works on Uber / DiDi-type travel platforms, but the work that was done was outside the platform). The photograph was taken by the ‘contact’ shortly before the abandonment and sent to Debanhi’s friends“, they indicated in a publication on Instagram. The Local Commission for the Search of People in Nuevo León has already turned a file to find her, where they give other information such as that she wears braces, she has an old scar under her chin and one more on her right hand.

The authorities of Nuevo León have reports of at least 15 women disappeared in the last month, but they rejected that there was a crime, since in these 14 cases the women were willing to leave the last place where they were. The state official explained that four of them have already been physically located and are safe, and in seven more cases their whereregardings are known and they are safe.
