“They could have had a great future together”

This Saturday evening in Nieuwpoort, the emergency services pulled a car out of the water, with two deceased occupants inside. The vehicle was lifted with a crane, HLN said.

It was around 10:30 p.m. that the emergency services were informed that a car was in the canal in Nieuport. The police were dispatched to the scene and the vehicle was recovered by divers. But it was too late for the driver and his passenger, who had died.

“They might have had a bright future together”

Davy and Sara, the two victims, are two young people from Kortrijk. Aged 28 and 34 respectively, they had been missing since Friday, following an outing to the restaurant at La Côte.

The relatives of the director of sales at Coca-Cola and the director of a Basic Fit pay tribute to them with the Nieuwsblad. Shanna, Sara’s sister, says that “she was loved by everyone”: “My sister and Davy weren’t in a relationship, but they’ve been seeing each other a lot lately. They matched very well. Something might bloom, yes. They might have had a great future together.”

According to the first elements of the investigation, everything suggests that it is an unfortunate accident. Davy and Sara would have been victims of the thick fog which fell this Friday evening on the north of the country.
