Mental health stigma can prevent people from accessing or maintaining employment. It is essential to raise awareness in work environments to promote the participation and inclusion of people with mental health problems.

Employers should provide workplace accommodations for people with mental disorders, such as holding regular support meetings, scheduling frequent breaks, gradually returning workers to work, and providing storage for medications.

Training employers, managers and senior management of organizations will allow them to identify and address stressors in work environments.

Each person can take actions to promote their own well-being. Paying attention to signs that you cannot handle emotional distress, learning relaxation techniques, building meaningful relationships and seeking mental health assistance when required, says the Ministry of Public Health.
