They change the direction of streets to improve traffic

With the objective of making traffic more fluid, the Municipality of Neuquén will modify the streets internal of 10 barrioswhich will have unique hands, and some trunk arteries of the ciudad.

This was announced by the Secretary of Mobility and Citizen Services, Santiago Morán, who assured that the decision was made at the request of the residents, and following an analysis carried out by the Road Observatory.

“Neuquén has many narrow streets in the neighborhoods that are two-way and we have a cluster of cars that brings congestion, it also happens in the center. From this growth it is necessary to review these double-handed senses. The idea is to work in different neighborhoods and pass to the sole hands”, he added following clarifying that the modifications in many cases were requested by the neighborhood associations.

Morán also maintained that the Municipality has been working with the axis of a planned capital, to which he pointed out that “there is a look that has to do with sustainability in the city.”

The official announced that the changes in direction will also reach some trunk streets and that they will be made once the study of the Transportation System is completed “to improve the dynamics of the city and so that those who move towards the center do not do so because of the internal streets of the neighborhoods.

For the moment the changes will be in Santa Genoveva and then they will move to the El Progreso neighborhood.

The neighborhoods where there will be street changes are: Belgrano, Río Grande, Villa Ceferino, Unión de Mayo, San Lorenzo Sur and Villa Farrell.

From the Traffic area, a preventive task will be carried out to inform motorists regarding these modifications. The official asked the neighbors not to commit infractions and to get used to the change, although he assured that signs and posters will be put up.

Morán recalled that the work of the Municipality was also focused on connectivity works that were carried out with the Capital Plan, such as the execution of two streets that did not exist: Saavedra and Soldi Avenue. “These are roads that allow unique and very important connectivity. There is also the paving of Lanín street that enables circulation throughout the southern area.

In addition, he commented that beyond the development of trunk lines, from the planning of the city, proposals are being made that have to do with decongesting traffic in neighborhoods and beautifying commercial areas, “so the neighbors will have closer services essential and will not need to move.
