Within the activities of the celebrations for Tenango Day, which is commemorated on April 8, the ingenuity of the artisans of the Otomí-Tepehua region and the talent of models who showed the beauty of embroidered garments were combined during a catwalk. inclusive performed at the Gota de Plata Theater in the City of Pachuca.
This event, where 26 people with disabilities and 24 of different ages with a diversity of age, complexion and abilities participated, was held in coordination with the Secretariat of Welfare and Social Inclusion, the Secretariat of Tourism, as well as the United Hands of Artisans Committee.
There, 53 garments with exclusive designs were presented during a great party that was accompanied by huapango music, and which was well received by hundreds of people who attended the exhibition of the largest tenango in the world.
In this regard, Norberta González Jiménez, one of the creators and author of the original idea with which they were inspired to create the monumental piece, commented that the tenangos have given the opportunity to thousands of people to have a livelihood, while the elaboration of a craft of such dimensions, supported the popularization of the work that has been carried out for years in his municipality.
In addition, at the same time, an expo-sale was held in which other Hidalgo artisans also participated who seek to project the quality of their work, and who, thanks to their talent, dedication and effort, have managed to consolidate a good part of the cultural identity of the state.
The largest Tenango in the world will be on display for free at the Gota de Plata Auditorium until this Monday, April 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
