After the video of a young man attacking a police officer in the municipality of Chía, Cundinamarca, thehe authorities began an operation that ended with the capture of the aggressor on Friday followingnoon.

In the images, which have been shared by thousands of netizens through social networks, he looks like a citizen squeezes a policeman and slaps him despite the fact that the uniformed man remains motionless and without defending. “What do you need? The fact generated the indignation of the citizens, who have asked that the Public Force be respected and that situations like this do not repeat themselves.

The video has been so viral that even former president Álvaro Uribe Vélez criticized the behavior. “They start with violence once morest the police, they make fun of the authority that vandalism allows them and end up actually replacing it”said the former president through his Twitter account.

The capture

According to the institution, the young man would have committed a criminal offense known as violence once morest a public servant. As the aggression was evident, the victim filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office, who issued an arrest warrant.

After finding and capturing him, the Police assured that the man will be left at the disposal of a guarantee control judge to continue the investigation of the crime.

“Physical and verbal attacks once morest a public servant constitute a crime. In Law 2197 of 2022 the penalty is increased and it is considered aggravating when it is once morest a member of the public force (…) The members of the Police will not allow this type of violence or disrespect once morest those who work for the security and coexistence of Colombians,” said the institution.
