Agents of the National Civil Police (PNC) captured this Friday, April 12, a woman accused of having defrauded several people with the sale of fake tickets to concerts by international artists. Recently, the Public Ministry (MP) reported that it was investigating these types of events related to the presentation of the Colombian Karol G in Guatemala.

According to the PNC, the captured person was identified as María “N”, 28 years old, who is charged with the crime of special cases of fraud.

“Alleged person responsible for scams for selling fake tickets for a concert by international singers captured,” the PNC wrote on its Facebook account.

He added that the woman’s arrest, which occurred in Petén, occurred in an area bordering Mexico.

“María “N”, 28 years old, was captured on the main route that leads from the El Paraíso 107 hamlet to the village of El Naranjo, border with Mexico, jurisdiction of the municipality of La Libertad, Petén, when she was traveling as co-pilot in a pickup truck,” details the PNC.

In addition, he said that “his capture is for the crime of special cases of fraud” and that since March 22, he has been requested by a court in Chiquimula.

“The detainee is allegedly involved in scamming several people by selling fake tickets for events and concerts by well-known artists,” the publication adds.

On March 4, it was reported that the MP was following up on five complaints that were raised by citizens who claim to have been victims of fraud due to the sale of tickets to the two concerts recently offered by the Colombian singer Karol G.

For five months, when the official announcement of Karol G’s concert in Guatemala was made, thousands of people were waiting for the details of the event and the sale of tickets to the Explanada Cardales de Cayalá, zone 16, to dance and sing. with “La Bichota” on their Latin American tour “Tomorrow will be nice Latam Tour”.

However, the interest of thousands of Guatemalans in attending one of the two events was also taken advantage of by scammers, who deceived several people with the sale of fake tickets and who noticed the lack of authenticity of their purchase until they reached the entrance. of the event.

He added that the facts reported in the complaints refer to different types of scams and that in one case it is stated that several people posed as workers from a promoter, to whom “they deposited monetary amounts in exchange for tickets to the concert; However, they never received the same.”

“One case indicates that the tickets purchased were false,” added the MP.

In addition, there are three other cases where people were scammed through social networks, the Prosecutor’s Office indicated.

He added that in these cases those affected “deposited amounts of money in exchange for tickets that were never delivered to the victims.”
