At 7:52 p.m. last Thursday, Leonel’s relatives received a call in which, with a trembling voice, they were told that Santamaría was taken to the National Hospital of Chimaltenango “almost dead” due to a beating he was supposedly given. PNC agents.

The Departmental Municipal Firefighters indicated that they carried out the transfer of a foreigner who they located lying on the steps of the PNC substation; However, upon his arrival at the National Hospital he died. According to lifeguards, the deceased had multiple blows to his body.

Despite the information that relatives have, there is no arrest record of the two men at the PNC substation. This Friday, a strong security device might be observed throughout the day outside the police headquarters; a vehicle supposedly owned by the head of said substation was even packed and searched. PNC sources reported that the case is in the hands of the General Inspectorate and that the information available is that a group of agents detained two people and beat one, who died in the hospital.

The Public Ministry (MP) for its part confirmed the arrest of four PNC agents, who are accused of extrajudicial executions.
