Jakairá is a program developed by Kaleidos Foundation (Argentina) and Children Action (Switzerland).), which for 20 years has implemented different comprehensive strategies to accompany teenagers who are mothers and fathers and their children (and which we talk regarding in this note). As a result of this program, they have managed, for example, to increase this population’s access to higher education and jobs. To expand access to these tools, Kaleidos Foundation created Red MAPA: a set of organizations that work to support motherhood and fatherhood in adolescence. Its objective is that adolescents who are mothers and fathers and their children have their rights guaranteed and can achieve the future they propose.. Now, they have opened the call for next year.
“We are looking for organizations that have detected in their territories the need to support adolescent mothers, fathers and their sons and daughters and that are willing to train and commit,” explains Geraldine Kahan, coordinator of Red MAPA. Furthermore, she points out that They are already having a positive impact in eight provinces (Buenos Aires, Misiones, Jujuy, Tucumán, Salta, Mendoza, Córdoba and La Pampa) and that they are seeking to continue federalizing the network to reach more territories where it is needed.
Until now, the following organizations are part of Red MAPA: Personitas, SAHDES, Sonrisas, ANDHES, Consciousness Association, Young Space, Messengers of Peace, Patapila, Municipality of Mercedes, Municipality of Luján, Kaleidos Foundation.
