A debated beta!

Difficult to please everyone… And even if the first Diablo IV beta was rather well received by players, this is much less the case with this second beta launched last Friday. But what might have happened in such a short time?

In fact, Blizzard, the studio behind the game, didn’t change the formula of its Diablo IV at all between the launch of the first and the second beta. There is even little difference between the two versions offered. In other words, it is the players, by dint of playing for the title, who have become more demanding. And for them, the biggest problem with this new opus is the camera!

Diablo IV makes you claustrophobic!

For many of the players lucky enough to get their hands on Diablo IV’s second beta, the camera is way too close. Some find it so close, it is considered suffocating, and that it makes almost claustrophobic.

Currently the camera is so close to my character that I can’t fit the whole boss on screen when trying to fight him. Even ordinary enemies are huge. Everything is too close. Playing Diablo 4 feels like an isometric Assassin’s Creed. There’s no Diablo atmosphere here. Review of a player on Reddit

To solve this problem, it is very simple, players are simply asking for the addition of an option that would allow the camera to be rolled back.

The absence of a camera management option is very unfortunate. I constantly feel like I’m playing in a small room. It’s even more noticeable when the camera sometimes pans out during a specific event. The game then looks much nicer, so why can’t we play with these settings all the time? For some, this camera makes Diablo IV look like a mobile game, and others believe that this close-up camera was designed to favor console players; players who generally stay away from their screen.

One of the weak points of this game is the camera. You enter the city and it zooms in even closer than when it was outside of the city. It looks like it was designed for a console gamer, sitting on his couch, away from his TV. Review of a player on Reddit

It’s unclear if Blizzard will take player feedback and change the camera accordingly for the game’s release, but there’s a good chance it will. It would allow this Diablo IV to conquer more and more players. As a reminder, Diablo 4 is expected for June 6, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
