They begin updating the Agricultural Plan of the department of Boquerón

Asunción, IP Agency.- Producers, community actors and State representatives participated in the workshop to update the Agricultural Plan of the Department of Boquerón, in order to have a proposal that includes the challenges and opportunities for agricultural production.

The workshop took place in the Boquerón Governorate and was supported by the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES) through the FOLUR Project.

The day allowed us to evaluate the current plan and identify the priority agricultural and livestock sectors based on the characteristics of the department. Measures to improve the commercialization and competitiveness of family farming were also evaluated.

These data will be used in the process of constructing urban and territorial planning plans that are currently being developed in the districts of the department.

Authorities from the Government of Boquerón participated, along with representatives of MADES and the FOLUR Project. Also present were representatives of IPTA, SENAVE, MAG, SNPP and INDI, as well as cooperatives, the academic sector, indigenous communities and departmental councillors.

This broad call made it possible to comprehensively address the needs and perspectives of the various sectors involved in the agricultural development of the region.

About the Folur project

The FOLUR project seeks to promote integrated land use planning through the implementation of best production practices of the meat and soy value chains, achieve restoration at the ecosystem level and improve the connectivity of the blocks of remaining forests.

It is implemented by Madres with support from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the International Conservation Caucus Foundation (ICCF). It is financed by the Global Environment Fund (GEF) and co-financed by the public and private sectors, international cooperation, and civil society.
