On September 15, the Superintendency of Health reported that the EPS Convida, which had more than 478,3989 affiliated people, would enter the liquidation process. The news did not sit well with the Government of Cundinamarcasince almost all Convida patients belong to that department.
The Government has warned that it does not “share” the decision of the Supersalud. In fact, he warned through a statement that he has complied with the “annual capitalization” of the EPS, due to a previous commitment that he had acquired with the surveillance entity.

In turn, they recalled that the EPS Convida is “the only entity that reaches the 116 Cundinamarca municipalities, both in their rural and urban areas, to provide health services.”

According to the argument of the Government, both officials are prevented from ordering the liquidation processes because they had made public interventions in favor of liquidating EPS.
The liquidation of Convida, however, went ahead. In fact, the Ministry of Health announced that as of September 27, almost half a million patients will be transferred to other receiving EPSs.
“These EPSs must prioritize the fundamental right to health of EPS Convida affiliates, guaranteeing quality, opportunity, continuity and health care for contributors and their families,” said Mónica Valderrama, director in charge of Health Assurance at the Ministry.
