They arrested the policeman who helped Jorge Mangeri, the femicide of Palermo

The Police arrested this Monday the cousin of Jorge Mangeri’s wife in the Buenos Aires town of El Talar for false testimony in the case investigating the femicide of Ángeles Rawson to favor the murderous goalkeeper, in the crime that occurred in Palermo and caused a great commotion ten years ago.

Cecilio Antonio Saettone63 years old, who was a fugitive from Justice since he had to serve four years in prison, was captured by the troops on public roads in the Tigre district.

The personnel of the Fugitive Capture Division of the City Police participated in the operation following the orders of the Specialized Prosecutor Unit for Complex Criminal Investigation (UFECRI) of the Attorney General of the Nation.

The UFECRI Capture Secretariat, headed by Juan Pablo Bello, suspected that Saettone could be at his house on Paul Grousac street, in El Talar. Those who were in charge of the procedure observed him driving a Volkswagen Amarok vanwhich was not in his name, and he was arrested a few blocks away.

Mangeri’s wife’s cousin he was a senior officer of the Buenos Aires Police at the General Pacheco police station and he was watching the Ford plant in that town, when the femicide took place.

In 2017, he was sentenced to four years in prison for two cases of “aggravated false testimony” according to the opinion of Judge Luis Salas of the Oral Criminal Court No. 1 of the City of Buenos Aires.

However, he was released until the sentence was final. In 2020, Chamber 2 of the National Chamber of Criminal and Correctional Cassation ratified the sentence, although the man’s defense appealed with proposals that were rejected on September 16, 2022.

Since then, Saettone remained a fugitive until this Monday, when he was captured by the Police.
