Pointing once morest “the left”, the deputy Cristóbal Urruticoechea denied that his family had used his fuel card following Ciper’s report. The parliamentarian assured that it is “impossible” that said action has occurred.
The 21st District Deputy Christopher Urruticoechea (Republican Party) ruled out having misused the card issued by the Lower House to load fuel.
This following a report by Ciper Chile revealed that relatives of the parliamentarian carried fuel loads with public funds. As detailed, Urruticoechea’s wife made 38 charges, while his son would have replicated the action twice at service stations in Concón and Santiago between 2018 and 2022.
But it would not be the only thing, in 2020, a candidate for councilor would have used the card to recharge fuel in the name of the deputy. According to the regulations of the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies, only congressmen and their advisors can use them to carry out their parliamentary work. Family, friends and even less political associates cannot use it.
In this regard, Radio Bío Bío in Los Angeles requested a statement from Urruticoechea, who gaveruled out any irregularities in this investigation and considered it incorrect that they use his family to attack him for his political positions and convictions.
“I have never used those cards to buy fuel for my family car or my son’s car, besides it is completely impossible to do so. I am aware that my positions and convictions generate annoyance and anger on the left and that they are willing to lie to attack me, what is not correct is that they use my family for that purpose“, he indicated.
Through his Twitter account, the deputy stated that the accusations come from “the left-wing press”.

Deputy Barrera affirms that his card was stolen
Another of those mentioned in the report is the deputy Boris Barrera (PC), who through a statement explained that his case is different from the rest of the parliamentarians, since “I suffered the theft of the card available to the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies in 2020, which I informed the corporation at the time of realizing the charge resulting from irregular fuel loads.”
He added that said charges were reversed by the distribution company where they were made. irregular charges due to the “responsibility that falls to them as a result of the failure in the security of their system. This only demonstrates the fragility of the system, but in no case a lack of probity in my exercise as a deputy.
“In my case, there was no misuse of public resources, nor did any of my relatives benefit, nor myself from an abusive or improper use. As the report points out, the card was in the possession of one of my advisers, duly accredited in the Chamber, who suffered the theft of the card in January 2020″, He continued and accused some media outlets of biasedly replicating the information.
