The president of the Republic, Nicholas Maduro, announced this Wednesday the creation of the National Center for Regenerative Medicine, in order to benefit patients burned, fractured, among other cases.
This was reported during the working day dedicated to Innovation and Research for Good Living and Sovereignty that was carried out with the participation of the 250 members of the Venezuelan science and innovation knowledge community.
“In the case of cell therapy that requires highly trained scientists, a network of scientists in medicine can be created, with the purpose of creating a National Center for Regenerative Medicine, from the cell therapy unit of IVIC , and in this way to be able to articulate with hospitals throughout the country”, he stressed.
For her part, the sectoral vice president of Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jimenez-Ramirez, emphasized that “science is a disputed territory worldwide. It is not only energy, water, from the geopolitical point of view”.
He added that the Bolivarian nation has scientists with analytical skills to carry out new initiatives for knowledge. “Our hands and hearts are set to the task of building well-being from our science, from the very definition of science in Venezuela.”
Meanwhile, the director of the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research, Alberto Quinterothanked the presence of the Head of State at the IVIC facilities, given that he was able to witness the achievement of stem cells in Venezuela, which is the spearhead of science in the country.
“We have projected in the future to advance in what refers to cardiac tissue and nervous tissue. It is a project that we are working on,” said Quintero.
