A period of 24 hours was granted to the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, to submit information regarding a protection appeal filed by citizen Juan José Soto Vargas in favor of the leader of the Coordinadora Arauco-Malleco (CAM), Héctor Llaitul, and his son Ernesto, who are in preventive detention following being accused of various crimes by the Prosecutor’s Office.

A writ of amparo was filed in the Court of Appeals of Concepción in favor of the leader of the Coordinadora Arauco-Malleco (CAM), Héctor Llaitul, and his son, Ernesto Llaitul, who points to the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric.

Both Llaitul and her son are under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office and are complying with the precautionary measure of preventive prison.

The legal action was filed by a citizen who identifies himself as Juan Jose Soto Vargaswho points out in the document that both community members they are being persecuted through records and evidence invented by the head of state.

In addition, he denounces that the situation experienced by father and son equals torturewhich the appellant claims to know as an exile, following having been expelled from the country through -what he called- a montage.

Although Soto Vargas does not make any request in the legal action, that is, he did not explain what he is pursuing through this amparo appeal, the ministers of the penquista court Rafael Andrade, Nancy Bluck and the member lawyer Marcelo Matus, in an unpublished resolution, the appeal was admitted.

Due to the above, President Boric was given a period of 24 hours to “send all background information and documents that are in your possession in relation to the facts or denounced”.

Likewise, the instruction also applies to the courts of Guarantee of Temuco and Los Angeles, which ordered the deprivation of liberty of Héctor and Ernesto Llaitul, respectively.

For its part, the Los Angeles Guarantee Court decreed this Thursday the precautionary measure of preventive detention once morest Ernesto Llaitul, son of the CAM leader.

In his case, he is accused – along with two other people – of two fires and two frustrated homicides registered in September 2021 at the Punta Arenas estate in the provincial capital of Bío Bío.

At the time, the events were claimed by the Toño Marchant ORT of the Arauco Malleco Coordinator.
