They accuse Hermes Oscco of seeking to archive the case of a person run over in campaign

The case of Percy Huayta, run over during the 2022 electoral campaign, has not yet progressed. The victim lost both legs as a result of this accident, oroccurred during a confrontation between factions of two regional movements on October 2 of last year on Route 54 in the district of Cerro Colorado (Arequipa).

César Huayta demands justice for his brother Percy Huayta Huanca, indicating that 6 months have passed since this assault. In addition, accuses the former candidate for the Cerro Colorado commune, Hermes Oscco, of seeking to hinder the investigation, since his son Nicolás Oscco is accused of the outrage.

“Hermes Oscco, with the money he has, is putting a third man who he says is the driver, and thus free his son. Gentlemen, his son has been recognized by all the witnesses who were present that day.”

Cesar Huayta, brother of Percy Huayta Huanca.

César Huayta’s fear is that the complaint will be filed, since the prosecutor handling the case, Jhonny Ferro Quispe, has not had contact with the victim and his relatives. Percy Huayta is the father of three children, who can no longer be the financial support of his family.

Relatives and friends of Percy Huayta marched through Cerro Colorado towards the Public Ministry module of this jurisdiction, to demand justice and that the investigations progress.

Day of confrontation during campaign in Arequipa

On October 2, 2022, both brothers together with their nephew, were posting posters of the Arequipa, Tradition and Future (ATF) group, for which the candidate Manuel Vera Paredes ran. Then they were intercepted by militants from Together for the Development of Arequipa, who were doing electoral propaganda.

According to Percy Huayta’s brother, People got out of the five trucks that intercepted them and began to physically attack them. He accused the sympathizer of the ‘Flechita’ movement, Edwin Esquivel Alcamora, of ordering this truck to run over and drag Percy Huayta. Which ended up in front of a structure, leaving him seriously injured.

César declared at the time that he had recognized Edwin Esquivel for his constant threats and for being an adviser to the former governor of Arequipa, Elmer Cáceres Llica.
