Activated flash grenades, poles, naval torches and a sledgehammer were among other things found during the police operation at the School of Positive Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The police operation at the Aristotle University on Saturday followingnoon (16.03.24) was made following a complaint regarding causing damage, outside the library under construction. All 49 referrals resulted in arrests.
At the same time, according to the announcement of ELAS, during the raid the following were found and confiscated:
- 22 wooden poles, to the ends of which pieces of cloth were attached,
- 12 anti-suffocation masks,
- 11 fire extinguishers, containing paint,
- 4 pyrotechnic constructions (naval torch type),
- 1 iron metal cutter,
- 2 metal cutting wheels,
- 2 cutting discs,
- 1 metal wheel wrench,
- sledgehammer,
- 6 bike helmets,
- 2 activated police hand grenades (flash and tear gas),
- 1 laptop computer,
- clothing items (gloves, balaclavas) and
- multitude of door locks and chains;
A preliminary investigation is carried out by the State Security Sub-Directorate of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate.
The police raid was carried out following information that unknown persons tried to cause damage to the library under construction, on the site of the former occupation of the Biological.
Specifically, some attempted to remove sheet metal from the library. Afterwards, the same people tried to hide inside the STHE and the police proceeded to intervene inside the school to locate them.
There were other people inside the school, as the STHE is under occupation.
In the meantime, speaking on Open TV, the representative of ELAS, Constantia Dimoglidou, noted that all 49 are accused of disrupting the operation of a public service.
As Mrs. Dimoglidou said, the wheel with which they tried to cut the sheets was also found.
