Thessaloniki: Six-month sentence for the 45-year-old who slapped and threatened his partner – 2024-07-07 02:24:02

A six-month prison sentence suspended for three years was imposed on the 45-year-old accused of threatening to kill his 32-year-old partner in Thessaloniki.

As reported by the voria.gr website, the Autonomous Single-member Misdemeanor Court found the 45-year-old guilty of domestic threat and dropped the criminal prosecution for the insult, due to a lack of evidence.

However, he was granted a suspended sentence and the court suspended the execution of the sentence under the conditions of not committing new crimes once morest the victim and attending an alcohol rehabilitation program.

Testifying before the court, the 32-year-old stated that she has been in a relationship with the accused for four years and that they have had two children together, while she has two more from her previous marriage.

“I told him to break up. It’s my right because I don’t want us to continue anymore and he told me “I’m paying for this house, you can leave”, testified the 32-year-old and added that he slapped her. “He curses me all the time, violates my dignity”, he added and pointed out that the 45-year-old consumes large amounts of alcohol.

To the president’s question to the defendant regarding whether he threatened to kill the 32-year-old, he replied that “I may have said it out of tension”, however he denied that he wanted to harm her and claimed that he has never shown violent behavior once morest her .
