The organizers of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago announced in a statement the traffic restrictions that the city will suffer due to the event.
These security measures were coordinated with the Secret Service to ensure minimal impact on Chicago businesses and residents.
Among the logistical and security measures implemented by the DNC, some streets outside the perimeter will see access to parking affected.
Signs have already been posted regarding restrictions on the use of spaces and residents are advised to be vigilant to avoid being towed or being fined.

Streets affected by the Democratic National Convention
- Lake St. from Ashland to Damen: Restrictions will be on the south side of the street from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM from August 18th to August 22nd.
- Maypole Ave from Hermitage to Damen: Restrictions will be in place on both sides of the street from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM during the same days.
- Jackson Blvd from Wood to Western: Has a continuous parking ban on both sides of the street from August 17-23.
Other streets in the area close to the aforementioned zones will also have similar restrictions on vehicle access.
Street closures
Affected routes include roads between Lake and Jackson, and between Western and Ashland, with full closures between Hoyne and Paulina, and Lake to Adams.
Another area that will be affected by parking and traffic restrictions during the DNC is McCormick Place through August 25.
From 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, daily restrictions will be in place on 18th St, Cullerton St, and Michigan Ave. Other areas will have continuous 24-hour closures.

City officials are giving merchants, visitors and residents the option to check the DNC’s traffic restrictions in detail on the city’s website or by downloading a mobile app.
Another option is to sign up for emergency alerts, just text “DNC” to 226787 and you will receive updates immediately.
