The German Urological Association said that prostate problems most often attack men from the age of 50.
The association explained that the symptoms that warn of prostate problems are urination problems (the urgent desire to urinate and weak urine stream), urinary incontinence, prostate pain, sciatica, problems with defecation, decreased sexual ability, and blood in the urine.
The association stressed the need to consult a doctor immediately upon noticing these symptoms to conduct the necessary medical examinations, such as testing the level of “prostate-specific antigen” (PSA), noting that if the value of this antigen increases, this may be an indication of a benign change (inflammation or hypertrophy) or malignant ( cancer) in the prostate.
It is worth mentioning that the prostate is one of the male reproductive organs, and this gland is located below the bladder and surrounds the urethra. The prostate weighs regarding 20 grams, and is regarding 3 cm long and 4 cm wide. The gland produces a secretion that is released into the urethra during ejaculation and mixes with the sperm, making up regarding 30 percent of the semen and ensuring better motility of the sperm.
