The German Association of Neurologists said that slow movements, loss of balance, trembling, unsteady gait and unsteady posture of the body herald Parkinson’s disease, a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system, which mainly affects the locomotor system.

Symptoms also include muscle stiffness, loss of sensation, pain in joints and extremities, rigidity of facial expressions, regression or loss of sense of smell, as the patient talks, laughs or points during a dream; Because they are not prevented from doing these activities during dream sleep (REM sleep behavior disorder) like healthy people.

Because of these symptoms, patients have difficulty performing daily tasks such as washing and getting dressed, and their handwriting appears shaky.

The association explained that the causes of Parkinson’s disease lie in age, genetic changes and the death of dopamine-producing cells in the brain, noting that the treatment includes medications, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and deep brain stimulation.
