Skwheel, a young French company, caused a sensation at CES 2024 with its first creation: electric skis resembling electric scooters. Called Luna-One, this unusual product reproduces the sensation of sliding on all terrains.
Whether going to work, getting around town or shopping, everyone favors more ecological means of transport. And when these are out of the ordinary… they inevitably attract attention. Is it with this in mind that the former E-Line, Skwheel, had the bold idea of combining rollerblades and skis, all with motors, looking like mini electric scooters? After many years of testing and development, this product is now on the market.
Say goodbye to the constraints of the terrain with this electric ski resembling a scooter!
SKWHEEL recently revealed a new form of mobility with its all-terrain electric skis. Something to delight snow sports enthusiasts and more!
The Skwheel pack consists of two motorized “skis” and a portable wireless remote control. In fact, compared to an electric scooter, you need one for each foot. Each ski includes one wheel at the front and one at the back, as well as a carbon composite platform. In addition, it has front and rear signal lights, a removable lithium-ion battery and a snowboard-style attachment. Moreover, the calf strap support the rear light. Each ski, measuring 82 cm long and 12 cm wide, weighs 6 kg and is compatible with shoe sizes ranging from 38 to 48.
These electric skis perfectly combine pleasure of skiing and gentle mobility. As keen on engineering as he is on skiing, Antoine Massebeuf spent seven years creating this equipment. He emphasizes that these skis allow you to enjoy the joys of skiing in the city as well as in the countryside, even in the rain, whatever the terrain… Concrete, asphalt, sand, gravel or dirt. However, snow does not seem to be one of these favorable terrains.
Redefining the off-road electric mobility experience
The technical performance of the SKWHEEL pushes the boundaries of electric mobility, offering unrivaled driving experience. Equipped with two wheel motors, generating a total power of 2,400 W, these all-terrain electric skis dazzle with their dynamism and power. Equipped with four-wheel drive, they guarantee exceptional grip. They allow you to explore a wide variety of terrains, with theoretical speeds of up to 80 km/h.
In accordance with the standards governing motorized personal transport vehicles (EDPM), these skis, like electric scooters, do not exceed 25 km/h on the road. But this limitation does not detract from the impressive performance of these urban skis.
Thanks to a wireless remote control, you can choose between 4 acceleration modes, braking, regulating speed, honking the horn or even turning on the headlights. An integrated mechanical brake, activated by lifting the foot, provides additional safety in the event of loss of control. In terms of autonomy, SKWHEEL covers a remarkable distance of 30 km at a speed of 25 km/h, thanks to removable batteries.
But this performance comes at a price. The French startup offers its skis at the price of 1 600 euros for pre-order. Deliveries will begin in June 2024.
