Luxury interior

These details distinguish a chic accommodation from a cheap one.

In a series of videos on TikTok, a user explains how to recognize a high-end interior… and it starts with the switches.

According to one TikTok user, a wall-hung toilet bowl and sink are synonymous with luxury, at least in the United States.

As TikTokeur @remodelschool explains in a video, a certain type of ceiling light is typical of the middle class (post below). According to him, in a high-end interior, the lighting is more varied, with pendant lights at different heights and wall sconces. It is through this video and others of the same genre that the young man is currently accumulating likes by the hundreds of thousands.

His account is mainly devoted to interior design. He gives various advice on DIY and explains what to pay attention to when changing the light fixture in the bathroom or how to tell the difference between high-end and low-end oak cupboards. His video series titled “High Class vs. Middle Class Homes”, which has garnered several million views, is however its greatest success.

Suspended toilet bowl and professional appliances

According to @remodelschool, a simple switch would already tell if you are in an upper class interior. The ceiling and walls are other telltale signs: while in ordinary homes the ceilings and walls are patterned, the walls in more luxurious interiors are plastered with Venetian plaster, which gives them a shiny appearance. According to the TikTokeur, the ceilings of an opulent interior are always a bit special, but by no means smooth.

A wall hung toilet bowl is another sign of wealth, but especially in the US, as in Europe wall hung toilets are pretty much the norm. Toilets, sideboards, basins… in the United States, anything suspended would be synonymous with high-end design. The high-end side of an oven would be recognizable by the fact that it looks straight out of a professional restaurant kitchen.
