THE Orthopedic and Traumatology Clinic Medical Staff GROUP (KSM) at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Rahyussalim, explained that neck pain is often a problem that interferes with daily activities for many people. Therefore, it is important to detect the cause first so you can understand how to treat it.

“Since when has this soreness appeared? For example, it’s been a long time or right following waking up, if we are sure what the cause is, the treatment can be adjusted. There are seven causes of neck problems, namely bones, nerves, bone pads, joints, blood vessels, muscles and skin. ,” said Salim, Monday (29/4).

For example, accidents such as falling or being involved in a collision can often cause bone injuries.

Apart from that, daily activities such as getting a haircut can also cause problems with the neck, because barbers often apply pressure or massage to customers’ necks which can cause problems with the joints in that area.

The concept of over or exceeding the limit can also be a cause of bone disorders. When bones move out of their proper place, this can cause serious injury.

Some conditions that occur repeatedly, such as placing objects on the head, can also cause disruption of the bone cushions. As a result of this process, some people experience symptoms of a pinched nerve, when the pain can spread to the hand.

Therefore, it is important to pay attention to when neck pain appears. If the soreness appears periodically, such as following waking up or due to an inappropriate sleeping position, simple corrective steps such as changing sleeping position can be taken to help reduce the complaint, he added.

However, said Salim, if the neck pain has been felt for years and does not improve even though it has been treated, the next step is to seek help from a doctor to get further treatment.

Salim further said that one very effective way to reduce neck pain is to do physical activity.

Physiological movements such as moving the head back and forth, running, or walking can help relax muscles and restore structure in the affected muscle area.

“Doing regular physical activity can help reduce complaints of soreness in the neck. Simple movements such as moving the head and walking can have a positive effect in relieving muscle tension in the neck area,” said Salim.
