O WhatsApp is the world’s leading messaging application and is installed on the cell phones of millions of Brazilians. Unfortunately, however, some owners of older cell phones will need to buy a new cell phone if they want to continue messaging with their friends and family. From this Wednesday (1)more than 25 mobile phones will lose app support, including five iPhone models.
Why will WhatsApp stop working?
Every time an application receives an update, security features are reinforced and implemented according to the hardware used in mobile devices. This means that devices need to keep up with the evolution of these updates. If a device’s specifications are not compatible with an app update, then it fails to update and may stop working.
Which phones will no longer receive WhatsApp updates?
In all, 47 models will lose WhatsApp support in 2023 — list you can check by clicking here. According to Meta, the company responsible for the green messenger, WhatsApp will stop working on systems iOS 12 or Android 4.1. See the list:

My cell phone is on the list. What to do?
These devices will stop receiving WhatsApp updates from February, but that doesn’t mean they will stop working. It may be that one feature or another stops working initially. But as new updates are released, the app may stop working altogether.
Unfortunately, WhatsApp does not notify you when your cell phone will stop working. If your cell phone happens to be on the list above, it’s time to think regarding looking for a newer cell phone in order to continue sending and receiving WhatsApp messages.
