1. What changes on April 1st?
Cannabis will then be partially legalized. You can then legally get weed in two ways. Either you grow up to three plants yourself. Or you can become a member of a cultivation community, a so-called cannabis social club. As a member, you will not be able to purchase cannabis from your club until July 1st at the earliest. Adults are allowed to carry up to 25 grams with them or have up to 50 grams at home.
The consumption of cannabis is generally permitted in public, although exceptions apply: You are not allowed to consume it in the immediate vicinity of people under the age of 18, and you must also be at least 100 meters away from schools, children’s and youth facilities, playgrounds and public sports facilities to comply. Consumption is also not permitted in the cultivation associations themselves and their surrounding areas. In pedestrian zones, consumption is only permitted before 7 a.m. and following 8 p.m. On the Internet you can use the search term “Bubatzkarte” to check where consumption is permitted in your neighborhood.
