The State government issued this Wednesday afternoon the Red alert for coastal municipalities of Guerrero, due to the influence of rain from tropical storm ‘John’, since the authorities in charge of Civil Protection estimate that the hydrometeorological phenomenon could hit harder over the next few hours.

For this reason, Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda reported that she has requested, through a virtual meeting with the municipal presidents of the regions of the Costa Chica, Acapulco y Big Coastthat preventive measures be intensified to protect its inhabitants.

The above, especially for families living in high-risk coastal areas. The alert is for Saint Markon the Costa Chica, Acapulco and Zihuatanejo on the Costa Grande, where this phenomenon is expected to have a greater impact over the next few hours.

In a post on her social media, the state leader said: “I ask everyone to stay at home and strictly follow the instructions of Civil Protection. If you live in areas at risk of flooding, it is crucial to evacuate and move to the temporary shelters available.”

State authorities in matters of Civil Protection have reported the installation of 170 temporary shelters only on the Costa Chica, and others are already enabled in Acapulco and the municipalities of the Costa Grande.

In the beach area, heavy rains are also expected to bring with them Strong winds and waves of up to 5 meters.

In this regard, several videos have circulated in which the damage left by ‘John’ can be seen.
