At the end of the meeting, the presidents issued a joint written declaration of seven points announcing measures to strengthen commercial exchanges, complete the process of reopening the border and a technical commission to formulate connectivity projects between the Pacific and the Caribbean Colombian.

On the subject of peace, the presidents declared that: “Venezuela as a guarantor country will support the Government of Colombia in its objective of maintaining the bilateral cessation and total peace.”

In commercial matters, the progress was announced to complete the negotiation of the Agreement on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments, through which direct cross-border investments will be facilitated and promoted, which will promote, among other things, the transfer of technology. For this there is a meeting on January 27.

The revision of the agreement that governs bilateral trade in what has to do with market access, sanitary and phytosanitary matters was also announced.

In addition to the economic complementation, for this task there will be a meeting of the technical teams in the next 20 days.

On the passage of people and merchandise through border points: “Instructions will be given to local and regional border authorities to complete the process of opening all border crossings for the international transport of merchandise and passengers, both in public service and in private vehicles”.

The communication also announces the formation of a technical commission to build and formulate connectivity projects between the Caribbean Sea and the Colombian Pacific.

Another point is to review binational projects in terms of infrastructure projects for connectivity, energy, and food production and processing.
