These 8 Slightly Bad Series Are Guilty Pleasures You Should Absolutely Watch

Everyone has a favorite series, a bit useless, but pleasant. A series you can watch when you’re really tired and don’t want to think. Here is our selection.

I admit it: I love watching bad series. The ones with bad special effects, bad scripts, bad dialogue, and most of the time, bad actors. I find them funny and a bit endearing, and often downright absurd. I am fascinated by the fact that the story arcs are absolutely predictable (Oh ! wow! a “dark brown” has the role of a great seducer with a troubled past! unbelievable), and at the same time, by the fact that the scriptwriters surpass themselves each time to find improbable outcomes.

I really have a good time watching bad shows — that’s not a joke. These are guilty pleasures, my comforter series. The ones I like to watch when I’m tired, or, example randomly, when I’m alone at home in August or at Christmas, because all my friends have gone on vacation and I’m still working. So, if you have the same somewhat unmentionable passion (who will admit having spent their entire weekend binging Lost Girl rather than the last flagship series of Netflix ?), Numerama has concocted a list of the best draw series. Don’t thank us, it makes us happy.

All the series below are available for streaming by subscription, whether on Netflix, on Primeor on Apple TV+.

The bad series that we like, available on Netflix

First Kill

First Kill sadly won’t have a 2nd season, but that is not a reason to deprive yourself of this monument. A predictable plot just the way we like them, flat twists that don’t make sense, and special effects that we’d think dated from 2009. A classic of the genre, but which nevertheless brings a welcome touch of freshness thanks to its heroines, two lesbian high school girls. You can watch First Kill on Netflix.

Virgin River

A nurse who leaves a big city to settle in a clichéd small American town (the Internet is slow! but the inhabitants are nice!), and who will face the trials of life in the countryside. We guess all that will happen by watching the trailer, full of caricatures and pretty plans that are not at all realistic. It’s perfect and we say yes. You can watch Virgin River on Netflix.

Rebel

Rebel manages to be cliché while breaking all the codes. The students of Elite Way School, a famous school specializing in music, form a band and try to win an internal competition, which has never been won by first-year students. Add to this vibe worthy of High School Musical a secret society (!!) whose goal is to have certain students expelled (!!!) and you get a masterpiece (bonus: the presence of lesbians). You can watch Rebel on Netflix.

Teen Wolf

American high schoolers, werewolves, really ugly special effects, and an agreed script with big bad guys. What more do you need? You can watch Teen Wolf on Netflix.

The series that suck, but that we like, on Prime

H2O

H2O appears in this list on the advice of my colleague Nino, and just reading the pitch of the series, I agree with her. Three Australian teenage girls turn into a mermaid, thanks to some lame special effects – the series dates from 2006, so we respect it. You can watch H2O on Prime.

The Scott brothers

Flagship series of the 2000s, The Scott brothers follows the adventures of two rival half-brothers, their band of high school friends ( once more!), who all live in an idyllic small town in the United States (yes, once more!!). They also have wicked families, and the two heroes play basketball. Full box. You can watch The Scott brothers on Prime.

Deutsche-Les-Landes

This selection would not have been complete without a French series full of clichés regarding our German neighbors, huh? In Deutsche-Les-Landes, the mayor of a small village on the edge of ruin decides to… sell part of the village to a German CEO. The latter therefore relocates some of its employees to the municipality. Heavy German jokes and dripping good feelings guaranteed. You can watch Deutsche-Les-Landes on Prime.

The dumbest show of all time on Apple TV

Lost Girl

I saved the best for last: Lost Girl (not to be confused with The Lost Girlsbroadcast on Netflix, which has nothing to do with the series that interests us). Lost Girl follows the adventures of a woman who discovers late in life that she is a succubus (the fact that all the people she had kissed before had passed out hadn’t given her a clue). She also learns that faesupernatural beings, live in her city and, oh surprise, she will have to fight once morest the bad guys. Lost Girl a bottomless pit of nothingness, the viewing of which causes neurons to lose, and it is hypnotizingly stupid. I therefore highly recommend. You can watch Lost Girl on AppleTV+.
