According to the Interior Ministry’s preliminary results, this was achieved by the “Don’t throw away food!” initiatives. (126,767 signatures), “Ban glyphosate” (121,734), “No joining NATO” (109,089) and “No to nuclear power greenwashing” (105,955 signatures).
“Don’t throw away food” calls for a constitutional law that requires food manufacturers and supermarkets to donate food that is no longer sellable but is still edible to charitable organizations. “Ban glyphosate” also requires a constitutional law – in this case for an “exception-free ban on glyphosate based on the Luxembourg model”. The constitutional legislature also wants to use the initiative “No Austria to join NATO” and explicitly prohibit joining NATO “in addition to the existing neutrality law”. “No to nuclear power greenwashing” also does not apply under a constitutional law: The aim here is to prevent the EU from recognizing nuclear power as a sustainable form of energy.
