The North American influencer Theresa Cachuela, who accumulated more than 20 thousand followers on Instagram, was murdered in Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, at the hands of her husband, Jason Cachuela. According to authorities, Theresa and her daughter were heading to a bank when the man approached them and shot his wife.

The events occurred on Friday morning, December 22, in a parking lot near the Pearlridge Center in Waimalu. When Honolulu police arrived at the scene they found the 33-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds. In addition, the authorities indicated that the girl was present during the incident.

It is known that Jason Cachuela escaped after the shooting and in the afternoon hours he was found dead in the back of a residence that was located about eight kilometers from the shopping center. Lieutenant Deena Thoemmes told the press that a weapon was found at the site and that it is presumed that Jason committed suicide.

Theresa Cachuela had already received threats from her husband

According to authorities, a judge had granted the woman a temporary restraining order against Jason Cachuela, with whom she had been in a relationship for almost 11 years. This petition was filed on December 8, as the man had threatened to commit suicide in front of her and her children on December 6.

According to the woman’s statements, her husband took her to a place alone and held a knife to her throat. Then the next morning, the man showed up at Theresa’s house to apologize, but continued to make suicidal threats.

That same day, Jason Cachuela threatened to commit suicide in his garage when she refused to approach him, but Theresa called the police and they made a visit to check on her and her children’s well-being.

Then, as she let her son into the garage, she found her husband hiding under her car. She called 911 again to report the incident, they extended the request to restrain her and also indicated that Cachuela possessed weapons.

According to the information obtained by ‘Telemundo’, the restraining order became official on December 20 after appearing in court. Furthermore, it was stated that this measure was valid for one year and that the man could not contact Theresa, unless it was in relation to something about her children.

Theresa family asks for help with funeral expenses

On GoFundMe the victim’s family opened a campaign to raise funds for funeral expenses. Here Theresa’s mother also expressed her deep pain: “She was going to have breakfast with me that morning because I wanted to give her and my grandchildren their Christmas gifts. My daughter did not deserve this. She was fighting to get help, but the justice system “failed her. We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Tita.”

Internet users have helped the family and the campaign has raised more than $39,000.
