It is increasingly difficult to buy groceries without breaking the bank. Quebecers will still have to put their hands in their pockets to feed their families in 2023. They will have to pay up to $1,000 more to have enough to eat.

TVA Nouvelles surveyed Montrealers outside a grocery store this morning.
“It’s not funny, it’s really not bearable. There is nothing more to buy. I can’t believe it, it’s crazy!” said a woman.
“We have a hard time receiving people, it’s so expensive. This year, I don’t expect to receive much. Usually, I receive at least 30 people,” she laments.

Another taxpayer isn’t surprised by the price hike and is doing everything he can to make ends meet. “To compensate, I work 12 hours a day. Everything increases. I hope this year will be better, the economy has to pick up, ”he hopes.
Another man has a strategy for not wasting food.
“Prices have not stopped rising. I buy day by day according to my needs. When I need something else, I go to the grocery store. Otherwise, I buy too much and we lose some. Like everyone else, I can’t afford to waste. I’m careful,” he said.
A woman goes around the different banners to find the best prices. “I try to be careful. I buy less and I try to buy things at a discount and I go around the grocery stores to get the best discounts,” she informs.
