The Latvian Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology warns that in some western and central regions the snow cover might reach 10 centimeters, wet snow will lie on power lines and tree branches, and driving will be difficult. An orange warning is in effect until Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday followingnoon there will be no more heavy rainfall, and in many areas the sun will appear from the west of the country.
Moderate westerly and southwest winds will blow with gusts of up to 9-14 meters per second, on the coast – up to 17 meters per second.
The air temperature at night and in the morning will be around zero, during the day on Tuesday it will be +1…+6 degrees.
Snow and occasional rain are expected in Riga until Tuesday morning. Clouds will decrease Tuesday followingnoon. The north-west wind will change to south-west, moderate. The air temperature in the morning will be regarding zero degrees, and in the followingnoon it will not exceed +5 degrees.
ADDED: As reported bb.lv at the Riga City Council, on Tuesday, April 23, “snow tickets” will be reintroduced in Riga. Please note that they are still valid today, Monday.
Today and tomorrow, drivers will be able to use public transport in Riga for free. A passenger car registration certificate or vehicle registration certificate is considered a valid document for traveling on public transport. It is not necessary to have a driver’s license with you.
