For a week, as a sign of protest, the town of Caudrot has covered its town entrance signs with black ribbon, as a “symbol of the devitalization of the territory”, explains mayor Jérémie Gaillard. Other municipalities in Réolais are preparing to do the same thing. “I think I’ll hand out some leaflets too. We do all this for the population and we need their support,” calls Francis Zaghet. Many elected officials say they are ready to resign.
