Tomorrow is turning out to be a “mother of battles” in the SYRIZA Progressive Alliance, as tomorrow’s meeting of the Central Committee will be held as usual.
Regarding today’s proposal by the Political Secretariat, it will repeat the same road map of the internal party elections, i.e. the decided dates, as well as the need for smoothness of the process after the candidates, while a political stance was taken regarding the extra-judicial, which the Political Secretariat is sending it to the Central Committee for consideration tomorrow as “unacceptable”, without proposing a concrete solution to the problem, with top officials keeping their papers open, leaving it to the members of the governing body to decide.
“No” to the postponement of the KE
At the same time, a proposal was made to postpone the Central Committee by the “Kasselistas”, but it was rejected. The postponement was supported by Nikos Skorinis, Panos Rigas, Theodora Tzakri and Olympia Teligioridou. Pavlos Polakis voted against the postponement of the meeting, while in favor of the proposal to the Central Committee. The Representative of the Youth, Konstantinos Panagiotopoulos, also voted against the postponement of tomorrow’s meeting of the Central Committee. Inability to communicate, however, was recorded in the Political Secretariat with Rena Dourou and Maria Kouveli, who in the end did not vote.
“If the Central Committee is held tomorrow, it will be the beginning of the end of SYRIZA as a united form” said Nikos Skorinis, the leader of “Kasselistas” after the end of the process, asking for a postponement of the process and for Stefanos Kasselakis to take back the extra-judicial, while announced that he will be absent tomorrow, like Panos Rigas, from the meeting.

In particular, the Central Committee is expected to position itself tomorrow for the extrajudicial, without, however, clarifying as of today the context of its reaction. At the same time, the meeting will be held live and not hybrid (i.e. not with a digital platform), while no telephone votes are foreseen, as these are only allowed when a majority of 151 is required and not in person, as is expected to happen tomorrow.
Tzakri vs. Svigo and Pappa
Addressing Nikos Pappa, Rania Svigou, Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou, Maria Kouveli and Iota Beloni, Theodora Tzakri stated that “I appeal to you to reconsider and convene the KE with the sole purpose of excluding Kasselakis from the electoral process”.
In detail, the Tzakris statement:
The said decision for a meeting of the Central Committee regarding the administrative exclusion of Stefanos Kasselakis from the elections apparently dynamits the electoral process and leads to the dissolution of SYRIZA.
To the eight traditional extreme schismatic voices of the PG were added another 5 of the intermediates, the president of the KO, Nikos Pappas, the secretary of the party Rania Sviggou, Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou, Maria Kouveli and Iota Beloni, who under the guise of the extra-judicial joined the block it.
So I turn to these 5 and ask them to reconsider and collect it. In particular, I think that the two jurists cannot support the restriction of someone’s political rights, even if he exercises a legal right, as in this case was the out-of-court protest. It is about legal colonization and above all MPs, executives, members, of SYRIZA we remain scientists.
Those of you who consider it a major issue can also take the relevant political initiatives, but with the ultimate goal of appeasement, but also according to what everyone believes.
So I appeal to the prudence of people who respect their course and their reputation. I have nothing to expect from people who want to break up SYRIZA. They are capable of everything and of using every administrative measure to suppress the popular will and avoid its severe judgment. There is a need for a modus vivendi between the obvious pusillanimous majority of the base and the anti-pusillanimous majority of the KE.
