There were different opinions on the subject, Mohanlal film going bad is a big fall: Sreekanthan Venjaramood

College Kumaran is a 2008 film directed by Tulaseedas starring Mohanlal. Apart from Mohanlal, Vimala Raman, Shamna Kasim, Suraj Venjaramood, Balachandra Menon, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu and many other stars were in the film.

Sreekanthan Venjaramood, the associate director of the film, says that the reason why the film failed despite Mohanlal playing a different role. In an interview with Master Bin, he clarified the reason for the failure.

“I had a different opinion on the subject of the movie College Kumaran. I mentioned that at the beginning of the film. I was free to say that.

The script of the film was not complete when the shoot started. When people hear the name College Kumaran, the first thing people think is how Mohanlal will approach the role. The movie starts with that one confusion. But when you see it, you will understand that he is not coming to study in college.

The script was being written when the shooting started. Suresh Phuduwal was the script writer. Mohanlal was ready to do a film whose script was not right out of faith in Tulaseedas. And when he heard the story, he felt terribly thrilled.

The character was thrilling but the lack of subject is the biggest flaw of that movie. Mohanlal played that role well. Just as he was willing to do the film because the character was good, he was willing to do the film because the story was good.

I never thought I would fail. He was hoping that by the time the script was written, it would be good. I had said that I will complete the script and make the film. If we waited like that, the problem of date would have come. Later Tulsi sir became a little down. A Mohanlal film going bad is a huge failure,” said Sreekanthan Venjaramood.
