**Interview with Yama David, Secretary of the Honorary Council for Election Organizers (DKPP)**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us, Yama David. Can you give us an overview of the recent data on complaints regarding ethical violations during the 2024 elections?
**Yama David:** Thank you for having me. As you mentioned, from January 1 to November 4, 2024, the DKPP received 584 complaints about violations by election organizers. This figure is quite alarming as it represents a 100% increase from the 325 complaints we received in 2023.
**Interviewer:** What do you think has contributed to this significant rise in complaints?
**Yama David:** There are likely several factors at play. One, increased public awareness of electoral rights and the channels available to report violations may have empowered more citizens to speak out. Moreover, the heightened tensions and scrutiny surrounding the election process could have led to an uptick in perceived violations.
**Interviewer:** Can you detail the types of violations that were most commonly reported?
**Yama David:** While I can’t disclose specific cases for confidentiality reasons, many complaints generally relate to misconduct by election organizers, including issues of bias, procedural irregularities, and inadequate responses to public grievances.
**Interviewer:** How is the DKPP planning to address this spike in complaints effectively?
**Yama David:** We are committed to a thorough investigation of each complaint. We will work closely with other electoral bodies and stakeholders to ensure that we can enhance accountability and integrity within the electoral process. Our aim is to protect the democratic process and uphold the law.
**Interviewer:** what message do you have for the public regarding the electoral process and their role in it?
**Yama David:** I encourage everyone to stay informed about their rights and actively participate in the electoral process. If you see something that seems incorrect or unjust, please report it. Transparency and accountability are vital for our democracy, and every complaint matters.
