The village of Ladeuze witnessed a funny scene, completely unexpected. In the middle of the day, a couple was taken by surprise, seeing a huge hole forming in their garden, following an unexpected collapse. It was actually their son who witnessed the scene when he arrived there.
“When my son arrived, he closed the door and he heard a loud noise. It was done”tells us Jean Mouillard, the owner, still dumbfounded. “There was no earthquake, so I don’t know”, he says. To understand the problem, it should be noted that the property is crossed, over 50m, by a century-old vault. It is this vault that gave way, causing the impressive incident, following a structural defect.
Below flows a river, the Hunelle, a category 2 watercourse. It depends on the Province, but not the vault, which means that it will not intervene, only insurers can be called upon to the repairs. “She is not insured, so it will necessarily be me”regrets Jean Mouillard. “What is scary is that in the blink of an eye, it collapsed. We are anywhere, it can collapse under our feet. I live very badly”tells us for his part his wife, Liliane Gilmot.
The scene is truly incredible.
