There was a threat when the Pak team came to India- Shahid Afridi | Pakistan BCCI

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi made allegations while India continued to insist that Pakistan should not visit Pakistan for Asia Cup cricket. If we look at security, Afridi alleged that there was a threat once morest the Pakistan team when they came to India. Even when Afridi said that he was threatened by an Indian, he refused to reveal his name. Afridi also claimed that Pakistan team played in India that day despite threats.

“India is saying that they will not play the Asia Cup. If the Indian team is sent to Pakistan, we will gladly accept it. A man in Mumbai had threatened to not allow the Pakistan team to play in India. But the Pakistani government took it as a responsibility and brought the Pakistan team to India,” Afridi said while talking to the media as part of the Legends Cricket League.

“Threats in that incident that day did not affect our relationship. The threats remained there.” – Afridi responded. Afridi also shared his memories with the media when the Pakistan team came to play in India in 2005. “If the Indian team comes to Pakistan, it will be a very good thing. This is not a generation of wars and struggles. We need good relations. When we came to play in India, we got a very good response,” said Afridi.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had threatened to take a tough stand if India did not come to Pakistan to play the Asia Cup. They threatened that Pakistan would not play in this year’s ODI World Cup in India. At the same time, cricket fans hope that the confusion over the Asia Cup venue will end with the meeting of the Asian Cricket Council. The matter of shifting only India’s matches from Pakistan is also being considered.
