It’s the usual spy script. Of those unfaithful state servants convinced they can dossier politicians and VIPs hands down. But when they are discovered, they show off the arrogance of a power that they have betrayed and denied with just a single illegal access, let alone after the hundreds of thousands of confidential documents exfiltrated. Thus the former policeman Carmine Gallo, head of the “gang” of hackers in Milan, yesterday followed in the footsteps of the most famous of spies, that Pasquale Striano who had transformed the Anti-Mafia into a vermin of the SOS. “I am a great investigator”, the financier claimed to Le Iene, who never wanted to clarify his position with the Perugia prosecutor, Raffaele Cantone. «I have always respected the law and I will do so now too. I have been a servant of the State, I have always respected the judicial authority and I will do so on this occasion too”, Gallo told the judge yesterday, making use of the right not to answer for that dossier at the top of which, according to the investigators, was himself and Enrico Pazzali, president of the Fiera Foundation. He will collaborate, Gallo guarantees, but only after reading the complaints in the file, which arose following a meeting between the former anti-mafia policeman and a member of the ‘Ndrangheta, followed in 2020.

Same silence from the other organizer of the house arrest dossier centre, the computer scientist Nunzio Samuele Calamucci, creator of that Beyond system thanks to which the group allegedly stole at least 800 thousand confidential files from national databases, but now determined to deny that the organization could “pierce” the SDI. «I will clarify as soon as I have a complete picture of the investigation documents. From what I have read there are exaggerations, because facts are represented that are impossible from an empirical point of view”, Fabrizio Filice told the investigating judge in Milan, in spontaneous declarations, after having availed himself of the right not to respond. Inflicting the first cracks in the wall of silence of what is defined as an unscrupulous group capable of representing “a serious danger to the security and personality of the State” is Marco Malerba, the policeman from the Rho-Pero police station suspended from duty. The agent admitted having carried out the illegal intrusions, in particular at the SDI. He explained that the person asking for those intrusions was Gallo, “his former boss”, to whom he would not “have been able to say no, in the context of a relationship of exchange of favours”. Nothing so profitable, a few theater tickets or a restaurant table reservation, guarantees. The most relevant, and at the same time most disturbing, admissions, however, came from Massimiliano Camponovo, the private investigator who worked with the Equalize company, owned by Gallo and Pazzali.

La Russa and her children targeted by spies: I want to know who the instigator is

Camponovo confessed to fearing for his life, faced with what he called a “system” behind which there is a dark hand. “I’m worried, I fear for my safety and that of my family,” revealed the investigator who is under house arrest. «I sensed that there was something dark behind this system so at a certain point I was in my place. They passed me the data and I made the reports.” He did not add anything else, nor did he name names or provide clues that could lead to possible instigators who remained unknown at the moment, unlike the many clients who had asked the “gang” for commissioned dossiers. Which the Equalize hackers prepared not only with confidential documents stolen from databases, but also with completely invented information, which the spies masterfully inserted into false dossiers. An illegal activity, in criminal association according to the prosecutors, which does not go well with the reassurances of Gallo, the great servant of the State. That yesterday, leaving the courthouse, he did not escape the gaze of those journalists he has known for years, since he worked at Mobile in Milan. To whom he muttered with difficulty: “It’s life.”

**Interview with‍ Cybersecurity Expert Dr. Elena Rossi on the Recent Hacker Scandal**

**Host:** Good evening, everyone. Today we have Dr. ⁢Elena Rossi, a renowned cybersecurity expert, joining us to discuss the recent⁢ hacking scandal involving a former policeman and a group of alleged hackers in Milan. Thank you for being with us, Dr. Rossi.

**Dr. Rossi:** Thank you for having me.

**Host:** Let’s dive right into ⁢it. The case revolves‌ around Carmine Gallo, who⁤ led a group that reportedly accessed sensitive information illegally. What ‍are your thoughts on how someone in a position of trust ⁣could fall into such‍ criminal activity?

**Dr. Rossi:** It’s quite concerning. Individuals ⁣like‍ Gallo often‍ have extensive knowledge of security protocols and systems.⁤ This insider knowledge can sometimes lead ‍to a dangerous overconfidence, believing they can exploit vulnerabilities without consequences. Moreover, it reflects a larger issue of ethics and accountability within law enforcement and security agencies.

**Host:** Indeed. There are also claims that Gallo and his associates had access to at least 800,000 confidential files. How⁤ alarming is that for national security?

**Dr. Rossi:** Extremely alarming. Such a breach can undermine public trust in institutions designed to protect citizens. The sheer volume of information stolen⁤ means that sensitive data could⁣ be misused for criminal activities or even espionage, especially if linked‌ to organized ‍crime groups as suspected in ⁣this case.

**Host:** ⁢The article mentions a relationship of “exchange of ‌favors” fueling these illegal intrusions. How significant is the issue of corruption within ‌cybersecurity contexts?

**Dr. Rossi:** Corruption is a critical vulnerability in cybersecurity. When individuals prioritize personal gain over their professional responsibilities, it creates an environment where security can be compromised. This emphasizes the need for strict regulations and oversight ‌to mitigate risks of abuse⁢ of power.

**Host:** What steps can organizations take to protect themselves against such internal ‍threats?

**Dr.‍ Rossi:** Organizations must ‌ensure robust internal controls, conduct regular audits, and promote a culture of ethics⁢ and accountability. Training and awareness about cybersecurity risks are also essential—employees need to understand the gravity of their actions. Implementing effective whistleblower protections can help uncover illicit activities before⁤ they escalate.

**Host:** What do you think will happen next in this case?

**Dr. Rossi:** I anticipate that ongoing investigations will reveal more ‌about the extent of the operations and any potential collaborators. It’s crucial the authorities prioritize transparency in the proceedings⁢ to restore public confidence. Legal consequences for those involved will also be significant in setting a ‍precedent against ⁤such ⁢misconduct.

**Host:** Thank you so ⁤much for your ⁣insights, Dr. Rossi. As this story develops, it’s clear that both cybersecurity and ethical conduct within institutions must be prioritized to safeguard our communities.

**Dr. Rossi:** Thank‌ you for having me.

**Host:** And thank you all for tuning in. Stay safe and informed.
