Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)— Mike Pompeo, the former US Secretary of State under the Donald Trump administration, commented on the scheduled visit of US President Joe Biden and his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

This came in a tweet by Pompeo on his official Twitter page, where he said: “The Saudi leader (Mohammed bin Salman), who did not receive a response to his calls from Biden, is working to build peace and prosperity for his country.

Pompeo continued, “Biden’s failure to recognize reality puts our children at risk.”

In a separate tweet, the former US secretary continued: “Biden is heading to Bethlehem, Israel, to meet Mahmoud Abbas, the brutal president of the Palestinian Authority that supports terrorism…Biden’s team is trying to provide billions to the ayatollah in their meetings.”

The Saudi Royal Court had announced in a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency, “At the generous invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and in order to strengthen the historical bilateral relations and the distinguished strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, and the common desire to develop them in all fields, President Joe Biden will pay an official visit to Saudi Arabia on July 15-16.

At the same time, the White House announced that Biden will visit the Middle East on a foreign tour from July 13-16, starting with Israel, the West Bank and then Saudi Arabia.
