Dr. said Khaled Abdel GhaffarThe Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Chargé d’Affairs of the Ministry of Health, that so far, no case has been discovered so far infected with the virus monkeypox Inside Egypt.
Abdel Ghaffar added, in a phone call to the “On My Responsibility” program broadcast on “Echo of the Country” channel this evening, Wednesday: “No case has been discovered in Egypt so far, and the total cases have reached 250 cases in more than 16 countries.”
He continued, “This virus is not new, but it is present and endemic in African countries in remote areas in central and outside Africa, and then it appeared in Europe, most of which are moderate cases and there are no problems.”
He added, “This virus is not a new virus, and it appeared with the same name, monkeypox, and the comparison between the Corona virus and smallpox is incorrect, because Corona was more widespread and more dangerous, and it did not have a method of discovery or drugs.”
And he added, “Corona is a new virus, it did not have known drugs, and the method of infection is different. Unlike monkeypox, which disappeared following 1980 and declared the world over, in addition to its genetic makeup that does not give it the ability to mutate.”
He continued, “But Corona, and the reason for his concern, was that he needed laboratory follow-up. And it recently spread following gay parties in Spain, but this does not mean that it spreads by sexual affinity only, but its transmission needs a rigid skin affinity.”
He explained, “Its symptoms begin with high temperatures, and then a rash appears that is blisters filled with a yellowish liquid, and this fluid is contagious and appears on the face and the extremities of the hands and feet, so there is no need to worry with continued care and surveillance.”
He stressed that the Ministry of Health, as soon as the first case appeared, addressed all health directorates around the world to introduce this virus and how to prevent it.
