The number of injuries due to torn cruciate ligaments has made the Professional League a top record worldwide. The opinion of the Boca doctor, José Batista, was the first opinion in which he spoke of something “inevitable”, in addition to blaming the “very tight schedule, playing fields in some cases in poor condition, fashions in the use of semicircular plugs instead of round plugs, psychological stress”, among other reasons.
Now, it was another recognized voice like that of Alexis Olariaga, who made himself heard. The physical trainer, who carried out a historic job in Talleres and with transcendent steps in Belgrano and Racing, among other teams before going abroad (he was with Omar Labruna in Chile recently with Alexander Medina in Vélez and Internacional de Porto Alegre), ruled out that it is poor preparation, to begin with, something that Batista also said.
“Given the surprising number of these types of injuries that are happening in 2024 in the Argentine Professional League, the question arises: what are we doing right and what are we doing wrong? From my point of view it is not due to poor preparation. The professionals who work are excellent, they all do preventives, strengthening, recovery, etc. But it cannot be overlooked that these episodes have already occurred in 15 different teams in the Argentine League of 28 teams, not counting the promotion categories, and in some clubs there was even more than one injury of this nature,” said Olariaga. , on his Instagram and La Voz.
“A good question would be: what has changed in Argentine Soccer in recent times? The density of matches: the players in this league are not yet adapted to competing so often in a short time. A situation that does occur in other leagues. 8 cases happened in the month of January, 4 in February and 7 in March. Parameters such as accelerations and decelerations have doubled or tripled,” argued the professor.
“In addition, a significant fact is the state of the training and playing fields: not all settings are suitable for elite football. Perhaps it is the moment in which the different parties come together to debate in pursuit of the care and improvement of the show and its main protagonist, who is the player,” he warned.
“No one takes care of the player. Without players, there would be no show. If the team number in First had been kept at 20…But there are 28. There are 14 more games. The playgrounds also suffer and there is a factor there. We teachers are already sitting at the table of this debate that must take place. “We must all do the same,” said Olariaga, at the conclusion of his message.
