The Secretariat for Integrated Risk Management and Civil Protection reported that it activated the yellow alert in 11 municipalities of the Mexico City and the orange alert in one, because heavy rains are expected this Saturday night, August 17.
Rain and showers are expected to continue, accompanied by electrical activity, in much of Mexico City, and hail is not ruled out, the agency said on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

In addition, the Secretariat activated the yellow alert in 11 municipalities where rains of 15 to 29 mm are expected, also accompanied by hail.
These 11 municipalities are: Benito Juarez, Alvaro Obregon, Azcapotzalco, Cuauhtemoc, Coyoacan, Cuajimalpa, Magdalena Contreras, Milpa Alta, Tlalpan, Tlahuac and Xochimilco.
As part of both alerts, the following is recommended to the population:
- Close windows and doors.
- If you ride a bicycle, use a raincoat with reflective material.
- Do not cross where there is water current.
- Remove trash from drains to prevent puddles and flooding.
- Report any incident to 911 or 55-5683-2222.
