“There is a possibility that Italy will be rescued for the World Cup in Qatar 2022”

Chile’s complaint to FIFA over the Byron Castillo case opens up different possibilities for those who were left out of the World Cup, and the Azzurra may be one of the beneficiaries if Gustavo Alfaro’s team is displaced.

Italy might return to the World Cup following being eliminated in the European Repechage following losing to North Macedonia 1-0. The possibility arises from the claim that Chile made to FIFA for the case of Byron Castillo in Ecuadorwhich would leave the team led by Gustavo Alfaro and open a new place for Qatar 2022.

In an interview with politics on the ball in Parliament Rai Gr, the president of the Italian Golf Federation, Franco Chimenti, affirmed that the Azzurra can go to the World Cup instead of Chile and assured: “There is a possibility that Italy will be rescued for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, a much more concrete possibility than everyone thinks. It seems that Ecuador used a non-Ecuadorian player who had no right to play. And for that he might pay. There is talk of possibility but there are extremes of that happening“.

The case for which Italy would go to the Qatar 2022 World Cup it would be by a rule that marks the regulation of the highest soccer entityand Chimenti highlighted: “There is a FIFA rule that talks regarding playoffs and the highest team in the ranking: and this is certainly Italy.”. The Azzurra is in sixth place and is the National Team with the highest ranking outside of the event.

In Italy they await FIFA’s decision to disqualify Ecuador and be the ones to occupy that place in the next World Cup. From Chile, they assure that if Gustavo Alfaro’s National Team is eliminated, they will be the ones who enter.

FIFA opened a file on the Byron Castillo case

As recently confirmed by FIFA, the Chilean Football Association has filed a complaint with the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in which it makes a series of allegations regarding the possible falsification of the documents that grant Ecuadorian nationality to the player Byron David Castillo Segura , as well as the possible ineligibility of said player to participate in eight qualifying matches of the national team of the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) in the preliminary competition of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

Taking into account the above, FIFA has decided to open a disciplinary file in relation to the possible disqualification of Byron David Castillo Segura in relation to the aforementioned matches. In this context, the FEF and the Peruvian Football Association have been invited to present their positions before the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
