The large-scale attack on the French railway network was not enough. The gate menu at the Paris 2024 Olympic village also exploded. Athletes began to complain about supply problems at the village restaurant, prompting the operator Sodexo Live to increase the volume of orders for some products. As some French newspapers report, British athletes were the first to boycott the canteen, complaining about the lack of eggs and chicken, but also of meat, which they said was “too raw”. According to the Times, the athletes had called a chef from the United Kingdom specifically.
“The British delegation has chosen to reinforce its catering teams already present at the center located outside the Village with the presence of an additional chef to ensure the catering of its athletes. We regret this decision and are fully mobilized to meet all the needs of all athletes,” said Sodexo Live. “Some products, such as eggs and grilled meats, are particularly popular with athletes and therefore the volumes have been increased, in accordance with Paris 2024. Since then, the quantities offered on these products have made it possible to meet all needs,” assured the operator.
Sodexo Live, which operates the “world’s largest restaurant,” added: “Since the early days, we have actively worked to adapt our supplies to meet the needs of athletes around the world and contributing to their performance is our priority: we listen to them and take their feedback very seriously,” the company stressed.
